On Sunday was the South Coast Open Junior Championships at Worthing. We had five members enter this competiton whom were, Billy, Bradley, Andrew, Jamie & Emma.
For Billy, Bradley & Jamie this was their first competition outside of their usual competition at Tonbridge.
Bill had 2 fights, sadly lost them both but was really happy with how he did and said he looks forward to the next 'big' competition.
Bradley had 4 fights, lost his first 3 fights but then came back to claim the last fight. Bradley also was happy with how he did.
Jamie had only 2 fights, unfortunately lost them all but fought well. Jamie, as the other two, was also happy on the simple fact he ventured out from Tonbridge to have a crack at something new.
On a personal note, it was brillaint to see some of our players venture out of their 'comfort zones' and aim for something new. Billy, Bradley & Jamie all fought really well, they didn't back down and went straight for the attack regardless of size or grade and that is what it's all about! Made me very proud! -- Larry
Andrew, again the same kinda applied to him, it was brilliant to see him fighting again. He had 3 fights, won his first, but sadly lost the other two but came away feeling good about himself with his whole effort at the competition. Hope he doesn't wait another year to fight again!
Emma had one tough day at the competition! She had 3 fights, and boy were they fights! She had 3 fights, a brown, blue & green and she fought so had she couldn't pysically take part in her final (4th) fight. Due to the fact Emma was so tired and so was her next oppenent, the officials didn't make them fight and left it as a DNF. Emma, in the end came away with a bronze medal for her efforts!

At the weekend was the Southend Internation Judo Competition. We had two members enter this high standard competition whom were Emma & Larry.
Emma had 3 fights, won all 3 and came awy with gold.
Larry didn't have anyone to fight in his weight group, so he got moved down to the next one. He had 4 fights; 1st Kyu 1st, 2nd & 5th Dan. Larry lost them all but was happy with the mere fact he had a stab at this competition. In the end he came away with gold as he had received for no-one being in his group.
