  • Judo star Ryan is the best of British

KOKORO Judo Club player Ryan Quigley (10) has added to the Scottish title he won last month by becoming the best in Britain.

The 2011 Anglian British Championships in Nottingham was Ryan’s first time competing across the border and he put in a series of fine performances aginst his English opponents.

He took full points in his first two fights against James Johnson of Yoshin Ryu in Surrey and Saif Khan of A1 in London, but had to use the golden score period to get past the ultra-defensive Blake Gulaidi-Barber of Ealing in the semi-final.

The final proved to a be a much more straight forward affair as he made short work of Lewis Warner from Polkyth in Plymouth to grab the gold medal.

Ryan’s dad Jim said: “Ryan was just brilliant on the day.

“It was particularly impressive as some of the boys competing were two years older than him, and if he keeps focused could have a very bright future in the sport.”

    Next up Ryan...
